About Chaminuka Rural District Council


Chaminuka RDC is located 90km North East of Harare and 28km to the east of Bindura in Mashonaland Central Province. It was established after amalgamating Shamva Rural Council and Chaminuka District Council in 1994/96 in line with the RDC Act Chapter 29:13. It has 29 wards, that is; 3 peri urban, 16 communal farming areas, 4 old resettlements and 6 commercial. The district has a population of 165 641 with 84 500 females and 81 141 males according to 2022 census in an area of 269 500Ha.

Chaminuka Rural District Council (RDC) hereby adopts this revised Client Service Charter in compliance with the Constitution of Zimbabwe (2013), the Rural District Councils Act [Chapter 29:13], the Administrative Justice Act, the Environmental Management Act, the Public Health Act and the Minimum Service Delivery Standards (MSDS). The Charter commits the Council to human-rights based, transparent, inclusive, accountable and participatory service delivery.

Chaminuka Rural District Council (RDC) is a local authority established in terms of the Constitution of Zimbabwe (2013) and mandated through the Rural District Councils Act [Chapter 29:13] to provide administrative, social and economic services to communities within Shamva District of Mashonaland Central Province. The District is characterized by a mix of communal, resettlement, mining and agricultural areas, with a rapidly growing population that continues to increase demand for basic services.

The district's economic base is largely anchored on agriculture, horticulture, artisanal and small-scale mining, retail trade, and emerging service industries. The availability of natural resources including minerals, arable land and forests presents opportunities for investment and local economic development if sustainably managed.

Chaminuka Rural District Council District lies in the North eastern part of Zimbabwe. Located about 83 km to the north of the Capital Harare. Its highly connectable through a well tarred national road. It is about 28km to the north east of the provincial capital Bindura.
